When interior designers use the term “wall hangings,” they are commonly referring to anything and everything that one may hang on a wall. This can include pictures, photographs, plates, frames, mirrors, sculptures, reliefs and much more besides. London is a fabulous place to choose wall hangings due to the many active artist communities and the strong tradition of professional interior design.
One of the most important elements of wall hangings are pictures. Many interior designers know that pictures are the way to “make a house a home.” However, poor positioning of pictures can easily detract from an otherwise well-planned interior design. This is especially important in smaller London homes or flats. Your interior designer will be able to outline the key points that need to be kept in mind regardless of whether you are hanging a recent family photo or an ancient heirloom. In London, interior designers have a saying, namely that “all pictures should relate to something else in the room.” This means that wall hangings of this type should never look as though they were included by accident. Pictures should be related via either colour or thematic elements to display tables, armchairs, bookshelves or fireplaces – or indeed to architectural features, such as panelling or mouldings, which can often be quite historic and interesting in London residences.
London Interior Designers will often elect not to position wall hangings symmetrically (meaning centred on fireplaces or furniture), since this can make the overall interior design seem a little uninspired or “flat.”
In London, it is important to remember that the weather is often a little rainy and cool. Therefore interior designers often find it desirable to depict slightly brighter images in their selection of wall hangings. It is also important to group pictures that are related to one another. An interior designer will often place a selection of landscapes close to one another, or they will do the same for seascapes or floral pictures. Another approach often used by some of the most prestigious London interior design consultancies is to group images by colour themes or at the very least by styles of frame or mounting.
In the next article in this interior design series, I will discuss in more detail the practicalities of how to install pictures.

Vancouver Web Design And SEO Vancouver Create Truly Marketable Websites Together
Monday, December 21st, 2009A book that you wrote may be a masterpiece that can change the face of literature as we know it, but how will anyone know about your book if no one reads it? The same goes for your website – it may be so informative and so well-designed that it works like a dream, but who will appreciate the work that you did on your website if no one can find it on the Internet? As thus, you should always know that Vancouver web design and SEO Vancouver always go together in creating a wonderful and fully searchable website.
Most of us know how Vancouver web design works. In developing your website, you determined the purpose of your website, how it should perform, how it should look like, and how it should work. With your Vancouver web design, you built your website so that it is pretty to look at, loads quickly even on outdated computers and slow connections, is easy to navigate, and is loaded with useful information. But this is not enough. If you want a return on your investment on your website, you need to make sure that your targeted audience will be able to find it. If they can find your website, they can certainly use it, and you will attain the purpose of your website.
This is where SEO Vancouver comes in. SEO, which is short for search engine optimization, is supposed to help you generate traffic to your website with the use of specific keywords that are related to what your website is all about. For instance, if your website is an online store for weight loss products, you can use keywords such as “weight loss vitamins,” “weight loss supplements,” “fast weight loss,” “healthy weight loss” and the like. Thus, when a potential customer types in one of your keywords in the query box of a search engine like Google, your website will pop up on the search engine results page with the help of SEO Vancouver.
What SEO Vancouver actually gives your website is visibility on a search engine results page of a search engine query using your chosen keywords. Most Internet users use a search engine nowadays to find the product and services that they want, and you will lose out on the market share that you can pull in if you do not use SEO Vancouver effectively. For sure, the search engines will still be able to find your website without SEO, but it will take a long time before you see your website on the first or second page of any search engine results page. Can you afford to waste your time and investment on your website that way?
Therefore, when you build a website, you should always keep in mind that Vancouver web design and SEO Vancouver always work together. The web design is supposed to make your website pretty and functional, while the SEO is meant to make your intended visitors find your website. If you are serious about doing business on the Internet, you should always have one with the other.

The Importance of Mastering Good Design Principles
Wednesday, November 25th, 2009One of the most important rules of good web design is to give visitors clear directions to navigate or move around on your website. I must admit, I personally like the menu bars that reveal sub menus when you hover with your mouse over a bar, but I also find that many times these “instant” menus keep me going from one page to the other and in the end I forget why I actually went to the site in the first place. In most instances, I just leave the site.Keep your main navigation menu simple so that your visitors can easily go to another part of your website. You can then provide text links to sub pages and more information. A picture paints a thousand words and images can be useful to enhance the look of your website. However, too many graphics or images can make your web pages look cluttered and distract your visitors from your original purpose of selling your product. Too many images can also cause your web site to load slowly and if visitors have to wait too long, they will usually leave your site before they had a chance to see what you have to offer them. When you use images on your site, you should always use a good image-editing program that will not only reduce the file size but also ensure that the image still looks good. A very important point to remember when you want to present your visitors with information is that they do not want to struggle through long paragraphs and huge blocks of text. Implement white space by splitting your paragraphs into shorter ones, use subheads and text bullets. Make it easy for your visitor to read and to take in the information you want to impart. Another important thing to remember is that all web browsers do not display websites in the same way. Your website can look great in Firefox but users of Internet Explorer or Opera may see lots of blank spaces or posts that disappear inexplicable and when this happens, they will leave your site.Make sure that your website is cross-browser compatible. If you know that there is a problem with some or all of your web pages, you can find valuable help on fixing this by visiting and asking for help in forums.Try to keep the use of scripting languages on your site to a minimum. Although scripting languages can be useful in data management, it should not be used to create visual effects on your website. Scripts not only slow down the loading time of your website but can even cause browsers to crash. As scripts are also not compatible with all the browsers, it may result in a loss of visitors to your site.An easy way to style all the elements on your website and saving you time and work is to use CSS when you create your own website. It is good practice to master web design principles even if you just create one page websites. The look of your website can be crucial to the success of your online business.
